The Mewgenics 1.1 beta balance update is not a small tuning patch. It changes several build-defining mechanics at once.

Hunter and Fighter lost some of their strongest loop tools, while Mage and Tinkerer received major buffs.

Hunter Changes
Hunter is the class most obviously affected by 1.1.
Before the patch, Hunter could combine ranged damage, room-clearing tools, mana refunds, and accuracy support into very efficient turns. The 1.1 update directly targets those strengths.
Hunter’s Boon 1.1 Change
Hunter’s Boon is the biggest reason players are searching for this patch.

The important change is not only “any kill.” The important change is the once-per-turn cap.

This is why the patch hurts Hunter’s Boon + Scattershot builds so much. The first kill still matters, but the second, third, and fourth kills no longer refund more mana.

Hunter’s Boon and “Any Kill”
The “any kill” wording is the most interesting part of the change. It may create new interactions, but several edge cases need in-game testing.

Build around one reliable Hunter kill per turn. Treat ally, familiar, trap, and damage-over-time triggers as experimental until tested.

- Scattershot kills two or more enemies in one cast.
- Scattershot kills one enemy and one ally in one cast.
- Hunter kills a familiar or summoned unit.
- A Hunter-owned trap kills an enemy.
- A familiar created by the Hunter kills an enemy.
- Burn or Poison from the Hunter gets the killing blow.
Scattershot 1.1 Change
Scattershot is still a strong Hunter tool, but it is no longer cheap or safe by default.

The mana cost increase from 7 to 10 is a +3 mana increase, or about 43% more expensive.
This matters because Hunter’s Boon was nerfed at the same time. Before 1.1, Scattershot could kill several enemies and refund multiple Hunter’s Boon triggers. In 1.1, Scattershot costs more and Hunter’s Boon only pays out once.

Heavy Shot became less efficient, but also less unreliable.

The raw damage per mana dropped from 2.5 to 1.6. That is a major efficiency loss.
However, the miss chance also dropped from 70% to 50%, which makes Heavy Shot less painful when you do not have accuracy support.
Practical Impact
Heavy Shot was especially strong when a build could remove or bypass the miss chance. Once the downside disappeared, the old version was extremely efficient.
The 1.1 version is less abusable:
- lower damage
- higher mana cost
- lower miss chance
- weaker payoff from accuracy fixes
Heavy Shot is not dead. It is just less automatic.
Ball of Spiders and Flea Shot
Ball of Spiders and Flea Shot both lost DEX damage scaling in 1.1.

Ball of Spiders
Ball of Spiders still has value if you care about the spiderlings it creates. The nerf mainly affects the direct impact damage.
After 1.1, evaluate Ball of Spiders as:
- less attractive as a scaling damage tool
- still potentially useful as a summon/body tool
- weaker for high-DEX Hunter damage builds
- worth checking in-game for the new flat damage tooltip
Flea Shot
Flea Shot matters because it may connect to Familiar-style Hunter builds and Hunter’s Boon “any kill” testing.
After 1.1, Flea Shot should be judged more as utility than raw damage:
Use Flea Shot for its familiar or interaction value first, not as a DEX-scaling damage spell.
The most important open question is whether Flea or familiar-related kills can interact with Hunter’s Boon’s new “any kill” rule.
Merciless 1.1 Change
Merciless is the main Fighter change players need to understand.
The new rule:
Merciless no longer triggers during actions that cost movement points.

Cleric Changes
The main Cleric change is Cleanse.
This is not a simple “Cleanse is worse” change. It is more specific:

Mage Buffs
Mage is one of the biggest winners of the 1.1 patch.
The buffs are not just one change. Mage received improvements across range, freeze, fire, stun, and spell reliability.

Freeze Mage
Freeze Mage looks much better after 1.1.
Reasons:
- Blizzard now has guaranteed Freeze.
- Ice Paws has better Slow and Freeze value.
- Ice Paws can damage frozen units.
- Shatter costs less mana.
This makes freeze less like a stall mechanic and more like a real damage/control plan.
Fire Mage
Fire Mage also improved, especially because of Inferno.

Why Throw Weapon Matters
Before 1.1, Tinkerer turns could feel cramped because crafting, using, and throwing competed for action economy.
After 1.1, a stronger Tinkerer turn can look like this:

- Use the weapon.
- Throw the weapon.
- Stack Tech, electric, or explosion value for future turns.
That makes every weapon, throw, Tech, and explosion synergy easier to justify.
Blast Resistance Matters
Blast Resistance was added to several explosion-related Tinkerer passives:
- EMP
- Mr. Mega
- Napalm
- Demo Man
That matters because many Tinkerer builds want to create explosions near themselves. Blast Resistance makes those builds less self-punishing and much easier to pilot.
This is especially relevant for:
- Rocket Ride
- Firecrackers
- Build Nuke

Math! Is Now a Prime-HP Tool
Math! is easier to understand if you think about the target’s current HP.
The ability deals damage based on how many divisors the target’s current HP has. Prime numbers only have two divisors: 1 and themselves.

Do not assume a high-Stimulation room can fully save a bad inbred line.
